Altus Impact Fund Supports Riding for the Disabled Ballina With $10,000 Donation

Our Altus Group Impact Fund exists to celebrate and support the incredible community contributions made by our people. One of those outstanding individuals is Deborah Miller, a Traffic Controller in Ballina who has volunteered with Riding for the Disabled (RDA) Ballina & Districts for more than 10 years.

Deborah’s connection to RDA is deeply personal. Her daughters, Emma and Chelsea, first joined the program as participants and now volunteer alongside their mum — making their family’s involvement a beautiful multi-generational commitment to giving back.

RDA Ballina is powered entirely by volunteers and grant funding. The organisation provides therapeutic riding experiences that support physical development, confidence and joy for children and adults with disabilities — a service that changes lives through connection, compassion and movement.

To recognise Deborah’s long-term volunteer work and to help RDA continue delivering this vital program, The Altus Group proudly donated $10,000 through our Impact Fund. The funding will be used for urgently needed fencing upgrades to enhance safety and improve the facility for riders, volunteers and horses.

During our visit, our team witnessed first-hand the impact these volunteers make. Watching a group of children engage with the horses was both inspirational and deeply moving. It reinforced why our Impact Fund exists, to recognise our people and to amplify the good they bring into the world.

The RDA team expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support, acknowledging how meaningful it is for volunteers like Deborah to have their efforts recognised by their workplace.

This donation is more than a financial contribution; it is a celebration of the compassion and community spirit embodied by our people.  Deborah’s decade of service, along with Emma and Chelsea’s dedication, is a powerful reminder that making an impact goes well beyond the work we do on the road.
